Casa Toti is another project by Houses in Italy due for completion in August 2011.
Casa Toti (so named because it is on Via Toti, named after an acclaimed poet) has been built from scratch in a traditional style, in a beautiful, ancient olive grove with spectacular 360 degree views of the Maiella Mountains, Gran Sasso, the vineyards of San Lorenzo and the medieval hilltop town of Elice.
Casa Toti will sleep 12, have a beautiful pool area and be available for the rental market in spring 2012.
Here is the diary of this exciting project:
Feb 2011 » Work Starts

Marking out the footprint. |

The digger moves in and breaks ground. |

Several olive trees are carefully pruned and moved. |

The digger carefully places the tree in its new home. |
 |
The setting sun at the end of Day 1. |
 |
Foundations are started... |
 |
The first cement is poured. |
 |

And work carries on in the dark! |

In the morning it's all dry. |
 |
Ready for the metal cages. |
March
 |
2 weeks later... |
 |
The staircase is going in. |
 |
The slide turns into steps. |
 |
The traditional vaulted ceilings on the ground floor are created. |

The 3rd floor, with amazing views, is added. |

The stonework starts on the outside walls. |

And the block walls go up inside. |

The house is really taking shape. |

7th June - Time to check out the sunset from the veranda with the 1st drinks party! |

Border around the roof is finished and copper guttering goes on. It stays shiny for about 2 weeks! |

And the under floor heating/cooling system is laid. |

The removal lorry from Salisbury arrives. Toti is still a building site with lots of potholes for the removal men to negotiate! |

A lorry full of furniture which is piled up in two rooms as the house is not quite ready. |

The pool has been dug and lined with 10 lorries of cement. |

The house is finished! |
