What can Houses in Italy do for you?

Property in Abruzzo

Houses in Italy has several pieces of land in Abruzzo's most beautiful valleys with outline planning permission for traditional style farmhouses. Between paying a small deposit and completion, full planning permission to your personal specification is acquired.

As you may already know, Italian property can be a bureaucratic nightmare. The process of buying property in Abruzzo can be especially arduous.

Buying our first house in Italy meant navigating a minefield of problems. After 7 months of searching, we finally found our perfect Italian location. Feeling pleased with ourselves, we then went on to discover that the property was owned by a dead granny, her two sons, their five children and three cousins.

Every one of them, excluding Granny of course, had to be involved in the house selling process. Each one had to be present at the “compromesso” (exchange of contracts) and again at the “L'atto”, (completion).

Property in Abruzzo is often sub-divided and ours was no exception! We had to have a contract with each individual owner, incurring serious extra costs we weren't originally warned of.

This frustrating process also demanded a huge amount of time and 6 months spent travelling to and from Abruzzo meant further expenses for flights, car rental and hotels.

Some of this long-winded process, often associated with property in Abruzzo, involved hours on the telephone. Fortunately, we speak Italian. Without this asset, our nightmare might never have ended!
